RANGE SAFETY RULES
STOP — READ AND COMPLY BEFORE ENTERING THE RANGE
1. Eye and Ear Protection
- Eye and ear protection is required 100% of the time on all ranges.
- This applies to shooters and spectators.
2. Firearm Transport (Cold Range Rules)
- All long guns must be unloaded and cased when brought to the range.
- All handguns must be unloaded and cased when brought to the firing line.
EXCEPTION: Concealed firearms must be unloaded at the bench before use and reloaded only at the bench when leaving.
LOADING OR UNLOADING ANYWHERE EXCEPT THE SHOOTING BENCH IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED.
3. Fundamental Safety Rules
- Always point the muzzle in a safe direction (downrange/backstop).
- Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to fire.
- Treat every firearm as loaded until verified otherwise.
- If a firearm leaves your control, recheck it immediately.
4. Muzzle Control
- The muzzle must never rise above the target/backstop.
EXCEPTIONS: Revolver unloading, tube-fed rifles, muzzleloaders, and slinging a rifle (with chamber flag).
5. Unintentional Discharges
- Always plan for the possibility of an accidental discharge.
- Ask: If it fired now, what would it hit?
- Check firearm status immediately upon handling.
- Only place finger on trigger when ready to fire.
6. Firearm Handling
- Firearms may only be handled at the shooting bench.
- Never handle firearms behind the line or near others.
- Firearms must be unloaded with actions open at the bench.
7. Downrange Safety
- No one is permitted forward of the firing line.
AUTHORIZED EVENTS MAY OPERATE UNDER RANGE OFFICER SUPERVISION WITH DIFFERENT RULES.
GENERAL RANGE RULES
NO ALCOHOL, DRUGS, OR IMPAIRMENT ALLOWED ON THE RANGE.
NO SMOKING, EATING, OR DRINKING ON THE RANGE. EXCEPT IN DESIGNATED AREAS
NO PHOTOS OR VIDEOS. NO SOCIAL MEDIA POSTING.
Health & Safety
- Lead is hazardous. Practice proper hygiene and wash hands after shooting.
Wildlife
NO SHOOTING AT WILDLIFE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
